This work aims at researching the procedures of neologism creation from the base form of the verb clavar (to nail) in the youth discourse in the city of Santa Fe, from a constructionist generativist perspective (mainly the Distributed Morphology).
The central thesis holds that the creation of neologisms takes place prior to lexical insertion. The presence/absence of two types formal features enable the creation of a new form: those linked to the temporal distribution of an event: beginning, process, result; and those related to its spatial distribution: origin, trajectory, and place (Ramchand, 2008). These features are independent of the lexical meaning of the root and the encyclopedic interpretation that is ultimately assigned, although they constrain both aspects.
This constrain will then generate different possible syntactic combinations and, thus, the differential interpretations of the structures.
First, the problem and the hypothesis will be introduced. Second, the selected theoretical framework will be briefly presented. Third, the corpus to be analysed and the analysis itself will be presented. Finally, the conclusions and the evaluation of the hypothesis will be proposed, along with a summary of the aspects that remain open for further research.
