Patrones de negación en el discurso político inaugural de los presidentes estadounidenses

Este trabajo analiza los patrones de negación y presenta los resultados de un estudio cuantitativo sobre las intersecciones de la negación con algunos sistemas léxico-gramaticales en un corpus de discurso político. El corpus, formado por los 45 discursos inaugurales pronunciados por los presidentes estadounidenses (122.848 palabras), fue etiquetado semiautomáticamente en el marco de la lingüística sistémico-funcional. Los resultados revelan que la frecuencia de negación en este registro es mucho mayor que la reportada en la literatura y que se emplea discursivamente una interacción entre negación y concesión como estrategia de cancelación y reemplazo de presuposiciones. Además, entre las disrupciones estadísticamente significativas se observan la intersección entre la polaridad negativa y la modalidad y entre la negación local a nivel del grupo nominal y la elección de procesos existenciales.
